Oana is a Romanian-American jewelry designer based in San Francisco. The brand's name is derived from her last name, Alupoaie, meaning "of wolf and sheep." Dropping the sheep and embracing the wolf, Alup is a brand centered around creativity and individuality.
With a background in fine art and design, including a stint at Goldsmiths in London, Oana has always been interested in art, fashion and geology. It took becoming a mother, one of the most profound transformations, to catalyze a desire to create her own jewelry brand and vision. Oana has always been drawn to the raw, untamed beauty of the earth. Eschewing traditional fine jewelry conventions, Oana gravitates toward unusual and unexpected stones. With an emphasis on sculptural forms, striking contrasts, and intriguing color combinations, Oana's core vision is to create wearable art. Her inaugural line, the Metamorphosis Collection, explores the beauty of transformation and creation, of life in flux, and celebrating the process of renewal.
